let it burn // Candles bring a warm glow & cozy feeling that is so welcome when cooler weather hits. Spoiler: you don’t have to spend a fortune. Currently burning? THIS, THIS [ most loved ], THIS & THIS. Also, anything in THIS SCENT.
kitchen confidential //Â My kitchen time increases tenfold this time of year. On my must-make list is anything with pumpkin and/or apple [ 1, 2, 3, 4Â ] & hearty soups & stews [ 1, 2, 3 ]. Make sure to follow my PINTEREST boards HERE & HERE for all the recipes I’m obsessing over.
blaze trails // Autumn is, sadly, a fleeting season, especially in Chicago; blink & you miss it AKA the snow is falling faster than the leaves are changing color. Before this happens, I’d like to explore a new neighborhood or re-introduce myself to places like Wicker Park & Ukrainian Village; strolling down colorful tree-lined streets is so blissful.
sip festively // With the changing of seasons, gone are summery flavors like watermelon & peach; tastes like pear, apple & pomegranate are ushered in. I want to sip a festive cocktail like a hot toddy or a pomegranate martini at a new [ to me ] bar in town. ADAMUS at the Silversmith Hotel has quite the seasonal beverage menu, with an Apple Mojito & a lighter take on the traditional eggnog.
spook out //Â I’ve got a thing for all things haunted & went on THISÂ ghost tour last year but want to try THIS one. What’s better than learning about Chicago’s spooky history & laughing with friends?
pick of the patch //Â It’s been years since I’ve visited a pumpkin patch. Since I don’t have a car in the city, it would be an all-day affair, but one that I think is well worth it. Bonus: hayrides & hot cider! Double bonus: hay maze [ tell me I’m not the only one who loves these ] !
get pumpkin-y //Â Who says pumpkins are only for the front porch? Pumpkins & gourds can totally have a place inside as well. Check out my Pinterest BOARD for all ideas. I love the idea of gold leafing or painting chevron stripes.
